UnixCommand

UnixCommand runs any command you type in to the textfield. Use at your own risk. This program is mainly designed for use in the fiswidgets Desktop application, when there is not yet a fiswidgets Java GUI for a step the user would like to include in their flow (pipeline).

This starts up the java interpreter and runs the UnixCommand application. You need to have setup your environment for java in order for this to work.

Unix command
Enter the unix command you want to run. It can be a shell command like cp or df, or a shell script or a binary. You should probably use the full pathname.

Execution mode
- Run using shell means that the command will be run thru the shell specified in your .fisproperties FIS_CSH_SHELL setting (doesn't have to be csh). If you run thru the shell, you CAN use shell operators like | > < etc, but, chars like $ and [] will be interpreted by the shell.
- Run using java means that the command will be run directly by the Java Process.exec() call. NO characters will be interpreted as having special shell meaning.
Report commandline failure
All commands run thru UnixCommand return an exit status. You can select here which commandline exit statuses will be considered an error by UnixCommand. If UnixCommand considers a commandline exit status to be an error status it will pop up an error dialog that will halt processing in a Desktop until the user clicks in the Dialog.
